Artificial intelligence to predict crisis situations such as pandemics or extreme weather events
Data4Life is a consortium partner in the joint DAKI-FWS R&D project.
The collaborative project DAKI-FWS ( Data and AI-based early warning system to stabilize the German economy) aims at using AI technologies to link and evaluate data from different data sources. Based on this data, an early warning system will be developed that can be used to predict future crisis situations such as further pandemics or extreme climate events, in order to better understand the development and course of events and thus protect and support lives, jobs, land, and infrastructure. It also aims at being able to better assess the impact of crises on economic aspects.
DAKI-FWS is part of the "KI Innovation Competition" of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate (BMWK) and is funded with about 12 million euro. The group on Artificial Intelligence of the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) coordinates the project. DAKI-FWS started in December 2021, and will run for three years.
Data4Life as a partner
Since 2020, it has become clear how strongly pandemics can impact not only health but also the economy. We will contribute our expertise in health data, data security, and research as a consortium partner primarily in the area of early detection of future pandemic scenarios.
Data4Life has developed the DAKI Health digital study, which allows the population in Germany to actively participate in the research project by donating health-related data.
